Restoration

We offer a total restoration service for all wooden and upholstered furniture.

Unique piece of furniture, originally owned by the Czar of Russia.  It was part of the furnishing of the Russian Imperial yacht 'Standart' constructed in 1895.

This piece was totally restored.  The frame was rebuilt, the wood carvings recut in places, and then repainted and laquered.  It was resprung and upholstered with handsewn horsehair to calico, and finished in a Fired Earth cloth with gold twisted cord.

Frame repaired and repolished, resprung and reupholstered using traditional methods. Finished in Kirby House 'Deco' in electric blue. Similar style chairs and settees available by commission in fabric of your choice.

Traditional hand sewn Horsehair chair

Original frame repaired, resprung, and traditionally reupholstered using horsehair and cotton felt.  finished in Romo Chenille with matching handsewn twisted cord on arms, wings and seat front.

Similar style traditional chairs and settees including drop arm settees available by commission in fabric of your choice.

Victorian Settee

Frame repaired and repolished, traditionally resprung and upholstered and finished in Nina Campbell 'Curzon Chenille'.

Bergiere Settee

Frame cleaned and polished, double-sided 'six way standard' canework rewoven by hand. Seat resprung and traditionally reupholstered. Finished in Lee Jofa 'Victoria Velvet'. Custom made pocketed feather seat and back cushions in Lee Jofa velvet with Nina Campbell rope cord.

Wood Carving

Original wood carving on the back of this chair was broken and lost.  This was recarved using another chair from the set as a pattern, and then recoloured and repolished.

Davenport desk 

Total restoration required.  Carcase and drawers rebuilt, veneers repaired or replaced.  New hand carved front supports made,  sash cords for hidden drawers replaced, mechanisms for catches restored.  The whole piece recoloured and repolished by hand. 

Penbroke table

Table totally repaired and restored.  Replacement drawer made from timber of a similar age.  Strings and bands replaced as necessary, recoloured and polished. Similar style Penbroke tables available from our collection of antique furniture.

Georgian tilt top table

Total restoration required, mechanism for the tilt top restored, veneers repaired or replaced as necessary, edgings recarved by hand, recoloured and polished.
